The Press Room at El Requexón today provided the backdrop as Javi Mier was presented with the award for January's 'Jugador Cinco Estrellas' Player of the Month. The midfielder, who has broken into the first team through hard work, professionalism and consistency, has become important to Ziganda in each match. He has now been recognised by the fans, who selected between the five players nominated by the beer company through their Twitter profile @futbolmahou.
Javi Mier then moved on to answer a selection of the questions put to him on social media by fans of Los Azules:
Who do you owe being a footballer to?
To my parents. Ever since I was little they were there with me.
Which three footballing dreams would you like to achieve in your career?
I've completed one, which was to play for the Real Oviedo first team. The others would be to be promoted to the First Division with this club, and to score a goal for Real Oviedo at the Bernabéu.
How has the process of adapting to the first team been? Did you expect to develop so much in one year?
The process has come naturally with the help of my teammates. A year ago I didn't expect to be in the first team. I was hopeful, but I didn't expect to get here so quickly.
Do you prefer a more offensive or defensive role?
I won't limit myself to either role. I know how to do both things well. I prefer a role which is somewhere between the two.
Do you see your future as being at Real Oviedo?
Yes, of course.
