Real Oviedo midfielder Javi Mier today appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón, responding to questions from members of the media.
You were a starter for the first league match.  Do you think it was a reward for your good preseason?
- I don't know if it's a reward.  I am dedicated to training every day.  If the Coach picks me then all I can do is contribute.
How did you feel?  Did you find it hard to play so far forward?
- It's true that I'm not used to playing there, but I can adapt.  We were good in the first half, but we found it hard to break them down.  We had chances in the second half.  It's a shame we couldn't take them, but we are going to solve it.
Did you expect to start?  When did the Coach tell you?
- The Gaffer told me on Saturday.  I didn't think about starting or not, only about being prepared.
Ziganda gave you a lot of praise.  What does the Coach ask of you?  What is he telling you to focus on?
- I'm grateful for his confidence, but this has only just begun.  I have to work hard every day in training, like I am doing, and give it everything. He wants me to get into the box and bring freshness to the midfield.
How much have you thought about that clear chance that you had?
- I've seen it quite a few times and it annoyed me.  It was a clear chance that could have changed the result.  I have to keep improving and I'm sure that one will go in against Mirandés.
You made your debut against Málaga in January and later admitted to having been a bit nervous... Was it different yesterday?
- The Málaga game was the tension of the moment.  I'm training with the first team now and have more self-confidence.
What's the main difference to Segunda B?
- The main difference is the tempo the ball moves at.
What does it mean for a local player to play up front in the first team alongside three teammates who have also played in the B team in recent seasons?
- At the end of the day, playing with local players, who you've played with for years, is a pleasure.  I will play with whoever though, that's why I'm here.
What do you expect from this season on an individual level?  Do you see yourself as having a chance to continue playing with the first team?
- My aim is to take it day-by-day, give everything in training, and make the most of it if Ziganda calls on me.
