Real Oviedo arrived in Ponferrada in search of their first victory of the season. Javi Rozada made changes for his first away match as Head Coach, bringing Borja Sánchez in as a starter, with Lucas at right back, and Tejera in midfield.

The Asturians completely dominated the first half. The first chance came from a Joselu header, which was kept out by Manu García. The keeper then handled the ball outside of the area as Ortuño broke through, and got away with only a yellow card. Saúl had the final chance of the first half, with a fierce near-post shot which was tipped around the post for a corner.

Things continued in the same fashion after the break, with Joselu striking the woodwork from a Mossa pass. The forward got in behind the centre backs, but his effort hit the post. The threat was coming from the left wing, and Borja Sánchez swung in a cross from that flank which was headed home by Ortuño. However, Ponferradina struck back only three minutes later, scoring the equaliser in the 59th minute. They made the score 2-1 in the 64th minute, scoring what would prove to be the winner. Rozada freshened the team up with substitutions, but the blow proved too tough to overcome. The team kept trying but couldn't find a way through, and the match ended in a 2-1 defeat.
