Real Oviedo defender, Héctor Verdés, appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón following the latest training session for Juan Antonio Anquela’s men.

Asked about his recovery and getting back into the team after injury, the defender admitted that, “it seemed like it would take less time, but it became more complicated. The fact we’re doing well means it’s hard to get into the team. If players are finding it hard to get in the team, then it shows things are going well. We want to give the Coach a difficult choice to make.” In addition, talking about his chances of getting back into the starting eleven in Seville, the Carbayón defender said that, “we’re here for whatever the Coach needs. The Coach has found the key to success, we have adapted well, and things are going well.”

Regarding the work done by Juan Antonio Anquela and his coaching staff, Héctor Verdés highlighted that, “results are going our way and we are keeping clean sheets, and that says a lot about the coaching team.” However, ahead of the weekend’s fixture, he warned that, “a good run doesn’t guarantee you a good result. We always go out there looking for three points, but build on a foundation of hard work and humility.”

With respect to Sevilla Atlético and the upcoming match at the José Ramón Cisneros, the defender said that, “it’s a tricky match. It won’t be an easy game, since B teams are capable of poor matches but also very good ones.”

Finally, asked about the change in mentality and in the team in recent weeks, Héctor Verdés argued that, “it’s all down to results. When you get positive results then everything changes, even though you could have done really good work and just got a poor result previously. With a positive run, your self-confidence grows,” concluded the defender.
