Real Oviedo put in a good performance despite defeat against Deportivo Alavés. The Asturians had the chance to claim an equaliser from the penalty spot, but the Alavés keeper kept it out.

Ortuño put Real Oviedo into the lead inside the first five minutes. The striker scored his first goal in blue, but Alavés hit back within five minutes with a strike from Rioja. A corner was met by Javi Fernández and led to another corner, as Real Oviedo enjoyed their best spell and pushed for a second goal. Sangalli and Saúl both also had chances. There was some good combination play and crosses into the box, but nobody could apply the finishing touch in the remainder of the first half.

Alavés stepped up a gear in the second half, and Joselu scored their second. Egea freshened the team up from the bench, and Mossa won a spotkick. Lolo’s penalty was kept out by the Basque side’s keeper. Ortuño headed just wide from a corner kick, before Tejera’s first-time effort from inside the box was cleared for a corner.

Sergio Egea’s side fell to defeat in the Partido Integra Energía, the final preseason friendly.
