Real Oviedo midfielder Edu Cortina appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón today.
Following last weekend's disappointment in Málaga, the academy graduate commented that "the defeat at La Rosaleda has no effect on us other than the points we lost.  We are working very well, improving, and it can't break up our good run.  We have to get back to getting positive results."
Real Oviedo will have another opportunity to get three points this Friday against Almería.  Regarding the team's way of approaching the match, Edu Cortina said that "we have players missing, but all of us have to be ready for when we are called on to contribute, and do as well as possible.  The Coach wants us to attack their goal and push on."  In addition, with respect to the Andalusian side, the midfielder stated that "they are in an automatic promotion spot.  They are dangerous, but we will work to counteract them.  We want the three points on Friday."
Asked about competing with Jimmy for a spot in midfield, Edu responded that "I have been playing with him for years and we know each other very well. It's a good competition.  We are good friends and this is good for us to improve.  There are four of us who play in central midfield and we have to be prepared.  We are playing with two holding midfielders and we have to complement one another."
With respect to defensive solidity, the player said that "it's not just about the lads at the back.  There are eleven of us.  The defenders played very well the other day.  We have to be together and force errors from the opposition."
Finally, regarding the return to the Carlos Tartiere, the midfielder concluded that "going back home is very important.  We have to make the Tartiere a fortress.  It's all about getting points at home."
