Edu Cortina: "It's so important to win in Ponferrada"

The midfielder discusses the team's reaction and the chances created, and believes that with a victory "confidence will come"

There are no reactions yet. Be the first!

Real Oviedo midfielder Edu Cortina appeared in the Press Room this morning.

The youth-team product analysed yesterday's match against Extremadura and the draw, saying "it's normal that we weren't satisfied at full time, because what we wanted was to win the match. It would have been a good day to have done so. Bearing in mind how things went with us going behind, the team's reaction was good and one point is better than none."

With no time to prepare for the next fixture, which will be on Sunday in Ponferrada, Edu commented that "we had little time to prepare for yesterday's match and it will be the same again for Ponferrada; very few days. Even though it's not much time, the coaching staff is working on things with a lot of clarity. It's been about small details, but we have to work hard to iron out the mistakes and finally get the victory. Wereally need it."

On an individual level, the academy graduate highlighted that "we started the match badly and found it hard. We played a bit too directly and didn't win the second balls. As time went by we got better with the ball and became more comfortable, and began to put together better moves. We had a lot of dangerous attacks in the second half and chances to win the match. After they scored the whole match was played in their half. We were looking for the draw first, and then the win. It's a shame because they scored from their only clear chance."

Regarding Rozada, Edu said that "we are going to know how we are playing. The team will look to create chances and push on and have an identity. There will be a lot of intensity in the training sessions and we will try to take it into matches. We are going to improve, because we have room to do so."

Finally, with respect to the atmosphere at the Tartiere, Edu Cortina highlighted that "we are giving them very little, since we've only got two points. Even with the little we gave them in the match the fans rose up and gave us a lot. The best thing is that we have another opportunity to win and turn things around on Sunday. It's what we need to gain confidence. When we win each player is going to have more confidence and you will notice it in the group. It's so important to win in Ponferrada."
