Real Oviedo midfielder Edu Cortina today appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón.

With two days having passed since the match at Riazor, the Oviedo-born midfielder stepped up to analyse it, saying that "we worked towards a winning start and ended the match with a bitter taste given how it went. We wanted to bring a good result back from there." In addition, Edu stressed that "despite the fact we lost, we have to analyse the positives. We created chances and put in a good performance. The reaction from the team is something positive."

With respect to making his first competitive start for the first team, the youth-team product highlighted that "I'm happy and grateful for the belief in me. It's not the most important thing, but I'm happy. I felt comfortable and good out there. It is a reward for hard work. Coming here to train makes me proud and playing with the first team is something incredible."

Asked about his feelings and the work done in the centre of the park, Cortina commented that "I've played in the midfield for many years and feel comfortable there. Deportivo were looking to hit us on the break, so we adjusted to keep the ball more. I don't think we let them run with the ball in the second half."

Finally, regarding the players who were not in the matchday squad for the first match due to it not being possible to register them with LaLiga, Edu Cortina concluded by saying that "we found out just before the match. We feel sorry for the players affected, but the club has reassured us about it. We are calm."
