Real Oviedo was defeated at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán after losing 4-0 to Sevilla FC in a new league matchday. Luis Carrión's team delivered a very lackluster performance in Andalusian territory, with no ability to react or real chances to score points.
The match could not have started worse for the blues. Barely three minutes had passed when the home team took advantage of a quick transition to take the lead and deliver a psychological blow to an Oviedo team that had not yet settled on the pitch. Adams' early goal conditioned the course of the match.
The Carbayón team tried to recover with a bit more ball possession, but without depth or chances on the home goal. Before halftime, Sevilla found success again and extended their lead with a second goal by Sow, leaving the match an uphill battle for the team from the capital of the Principality.
After the break, Carrión sought a reaction with a double substitution, bringing on Álex Forés and Dani Calvo, but the script did not change. Sevilla continued to dominate the match and, in the second half, sealed the game with a third goal. Batista Mendy finished off a great team play to beat Escandell with a low shot and make it 3-0. Oviedo found no answers, even with the subsequent introductions of Brécalo, Javi López, and Agudín, in a match where nothing worked and the blue team was outplayed. In the final stretch, Ejuke scored the fourth and final goal.
The defeat leaves Real Oviedo still in the relegation zone, five points away from safety. In the next matchday, the Carlos Tartiere will host a crucial clash against Celta de Vigo, where the blues will seek a much-needed reaction to win and regain confidence in front of their fans.
