Real Oviedo midfielder, David Rocha, appeared in the Press Room this afternoon to analyse the match in Vallecas. He described his belief that, “we played very well. Perhaps two points got away from us, because we deserved more. However, we feel very good as we faced two very hard challenges, and as a group we’ve come through it stronger.”

According to Rocha, the disappointment that the team ended the matches in Huesca and Vallecas with “shows that the team is competing, that we bounce back from blows, and that we fight back after conceding the first goal. It’s true that we were annoyed despite drawing away at two of the biggest clubs in the division, because the team went into both wanting to win.”

The midfielder argued that during the second half of the season “it is going to become much more difficult to earn points, because teams will treat every point as gold. It’s very hard to beat anyone away, and it’s the same at home too. Saturday’s match against Almería will be a very difficult match, against a team which is used to the pace of this league.”

Rocha believes that the Tartiere will prove crucial. “If we want to achieve something great, we must do it at home. It will be very difficult to earn points now. Teams have a lot of respect for us playing at the Tartiere, but we have to be very strong,” he stated.

In addition, the midfielder highlighted one of the team’s main strengths. “We adapt quite well to what we have in front of us. We don’t care who our opponent is, and we can play with or without the ball. We know how to adapt to the game and compete against anybody.”

Speaking about his personal role, playing alongside Folch, Rocha commented that, “we have adapted well to each other. It’s going well for us and I hope that it continues like that for a long time. We also have teammates
like Mariga and Hidi who give everything every day in training. We know that the day that we aren’t at our best or the Coach decides we need a rest, they can do just as well or even better than us. As such, we have to be up to the challenge every day.”

Finally, regarding the players missing Saturday’s game against Almería through suspension, the midfielder admitted that, “absences are always important, but we have a lot more in our locker. I’m sure that whoever comes into the team will do very well. They are desperate to play, and we know that they are going to do great. We know that the squad is competitive enough that whoever comes in will do well.”
