Real Oviedo fell this Sunday at El Requexón by the narrowest margin against SE AEM (0-1) in a match marked by a cruel ending for Andrea Suárez's team. A goal by Carlota in added time decided a duel in which the Oviedo side deserved more.
The visiting team started better, creating danger from the opening moments. In the 6th minute, S. Peñalver tried her luck with a shot that went over the bar, and shortly after, Inés attempted a long-range effort. The clearest chance for AEM came in the 10th minute when the Catalans had an opportunity at an open goal but failed to capitalize.
After overcoming the initial surge from the visiting side, Real Oviedo shook off the pressure and began to grow into the game. In the 12th minute, Auñón created the first dangerous opportunity for the Carbayonas with a shot that forced Lucia Alba to intervene. Shortly after, a cross from Nerea on the right nearly found Vera Rico in the box, who missed it by mere centimeters.
The Oviedo players continued to push and came close to scoring on several occasions. Vera attempted a header in the 17th minute, which went over the crossbar, and Sheila Garrido forced Lucia Alba into a great save in the 28th minute. Before halftime, Vera once again came up against the visiting goalkeeper, who kept her team in the game with another impressive save. The first half ended in a goalless draw.
The second half began without changes and with Real Oviedo determined to open the scoring. Sheila Garrido tried unsuccessfully, and Andrea Suárez made substitutions in the 62nd minute, bringing on Raissa and Sheila Elorza to refresh the attack. The Carbayonas continued to create danger: in the 68th minute, a lateral free kick ended with a header from Sheila Garrido, and in the 75th minute, a cross from Andrea Sordo on the left found Sheila, whose shot was once again saved by Lucia Alba.
The final stretch was a blue monologue. ADT came close to putting Real Oviedo ahead in the 80th minute with a shot that grazed the post and tried again shortly after, narrowly missing once more. Andrea Suárez made the final substitution in the 84th minute, bringing on Anina for Nerea to add freshness to the attack.
However, just when everything seemed destined for a draw, the final blow came. In injury time, Carlota took advantage of a counterattack to create space and unleash a powerful shot that found the back of the net, sealing the 0-1 result and leaving the Oviedo side empty-handed after a very complete performance.
