Real Oviedo full back, Guillermo Cotugno, appeared in the Press Room following the first training session of the week.

The Uruguayan, who played the full match at El Molinón, assessed his feelings after Saturday’s derby. “It was a bit like they had told me. You feel it a lot within the ground. I was surprised to see the Real Oviedo fans when we went out to warm up. I’ve come from Argentina, where only the home fans are allowed to attend, and the atmosphere created on Saturday was very nice.” In addition, the defender recognised that “they are emotions that you very rarely experience. We are amongst very few players that can have the opportunity to experience it, and in the end, we managed to earn a draw. Getting a draw at the end leaves a sweet taste and we can build on it.”

The right back was one of the players involved in the build up to the Real Oviedo goal on Saturday. When asked about this, Guillermo Cotugno pointed out that “just beforehand we had switched to three at the back, I stayed forward and was involved in the build-up. Toché put it in past five of them; it was a very nice goal.” Furthermore, with regards to the match finishing a draw, the Uruguayan said that “the coach’s changes showed that he wanted to go for goal. It worked out, and I think it was a fair result. We emerged the better team in the second half, and that’s reflected in the result.”

When asked what Juan Antonio Anquela had said in the changing room during halftime, the Real Oviedo defender said that “he told us the things to improve. The coach prepared us to come out stronger after halftime. We are a very united group, and always seek to improve.”

With regard to Sunday’s encounter against Cádiz, Guillermo Cotugno assures that “we are prepared, and we are only thinking about Cádiz. They have great players, but we want to play well and try to win.” Regarding the
atmosphere he expects against the Andalucian side the Real Oviedo full back stated that “the fans are demonstrating what they feel for the club, and transmitting this feeling onto us. It’s something positive, which helps us
pick up a good result.”

Finally, with respect to the creases that the team can iron out as the season progresses, Guillermo Cotugno believes that “there are always things that can be improved. When you concede a goal you can always improve things, and then we also have to keep scoring goals ourselves. We must make ourselves strong, so that we keep clean sheets and pick up the three points”, the Uruguayan concluded.
