Real Oviedo defender, Carlos Hernández, appeared in the Press Room following another training session at El Requexón.

Asked about Sunday’s clash against Cádiz, the centre back recognised that “in this division all our opponents are difficult. We must take it one game at a time, and this week we welcome a team that has started very
well. We are beginning to take the shape that the Coach wants from us, and we’re hoping for a victory.”

Regarding the Cádiz side, Carlos Hernández picked out that “they have a lot of pace up front, have their ideas clear, and they concede few goals. The Coach wants us to be together and commit as few mistakes as possible.” In addition, with respect to Cádiz’s start to the season, the defender said that “it is very important to begin well, but they didn’t have the best start last season, and yet they finished very strongly. We must find that
balance.”

When questioned about the way the team is coming together and how it has adapted to Juan Antonio Anquela, the centre back assured that “we knew it was a new team, with a new defence, and we have been picking up concepts little by little. Everyone knows their job and what the Coach wants from us. The coaches have helped us, they’ve given us confidence, and we will give everything to have a great season. I knew the Coach’s style of play, it has been simple. I am very happy.”

With respect to what he considers key for the team to progress this season, the Andalusian declared that “it’s all about keeping clean sheets and making the most of our attacking ability. We are a team with good forwards. It’s a strength, and the teams we come up against have to show us respect.”

Finally, regarding injuries and how they have affected the team’s start to the season, Carlos Hernández stated that “we have had bad luck. People are recovering, and when they return they will add to the group. We hope they recover quickly and can add to the team”, concluded the defender.
