Real Oviedo full back Carlos Martínez appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón this morning.
The Navarrese defender, who was in the starting eleven last weekend against Dépor, assessed the team’s performance, stating that “it was a good match, and feels a very different point to the one we got against Lugo. We competed well and were in the match. I believed that we showed a professional version of ourselves and it is a shame that we did not get the three points. We have to be happy. We knew that Dépor was going to be a difficult opponent and we are satisfied in that we gave it our all.”
Talking about his return to the squad, the Real Oviedo defender said that “I felt good. I had been training for a while. At the end of the match I was tired, but I felt very good on the pitch.
When asked about the arrival of Michu as Technical Secretary, Carlos Martínez stated that “he is someone that knows the club well, and is an idol in the city. I am sure that he will do well. He’s coming in to help, and he is a club man.”
With the next match against Las Palmas coming up, the full back commented that “they are a difficult opponent, with a great squad. We know that they aren’t doing well, but we mustn’t relax. We have to come out ready to fight on Saturday, and put them under pressure.”
Finally, regarding the anniversary festivities planned for this weekend, Carlos concluded that “it is always good to have celebrations if they can help the team come out more motivated.”
