Real Oviedo full back Carlos Martínez made an appearance in the press room at Carlos Tartiere.

After a training session in the Real Oviedo stadium, the Navarran acknowledged that, “I’ve received a very nice reception, everyone has been very welcoming, they’re good people. I didn’t know very many of them, but the group is great. I feel like I’m surrounded by nice people. The city is friendly, that’s very important when you’re trying to adjust to a new place.”

On his participation in the preseason, the full back stated that, “Everyone is taking good care of me. I’ve had to stop, I need to get back in little by little, training and getting my health back. I hope to be in top condition when LaLiga starts up.”

Regarding the match yesterday in Xove, Carlos stated that, “It was a typical preseason match, not much football in the first half and a more open second half. We have to analyze the matches and learn. We need to get rhythm and pick up what the gaffer wants us to and adjust quickly. The team is very solid and our attack has quality players to contribute to that little push the team needs. We’re working hard, we’re in top condition, that’s the important thing.”

Asked about his closeness with the coach and how important it is during the day to day of football, the Navarran said that, “He talks with me a lot to see how I’m doing. He wants me to be relaxed. He is very intense, very positive, since he has us motivated.” In addition, referring to the competition for the right back position with Johannesson, Carlos believes that, “It’s hard and good. Diegui is a great player. We both hope to perform our best to make it a difficult decision for the gaffer.”

Finally, speaking about his excitement for the first day of competition, the full back explained that, “It’s what you think about from the first day. The preseason is the most boring time for a player, since you just want the competition to start. We know we have to prepare well so we can be one-hundred percent,” the Navarran concluded.
