Carlos Hernández: “More annoyed than ever this week”

The defender believes that the defensive errors must be ironed out, and assured that in Barcelona “we will give everything to win the match”

Real Oviedo defender, Carlos Hernández, came into the Press Room following this morning’s training session at El Requexón. The centre back lamented the fact “we conceded again after taking the lead. We must improve things from set pieces and keep working hard. We must keep going.”

Asked about the psychological significance of again losing the lead, Carlos pointed out that, “teams can’t keep scoring the best goal of the weekend against us every week! We must stay strong and not concede, because we know our attacking players have goals in them. We have to iron out the defensive errors, because that is what is costing us points, and keep our spirits up. Set pieces determine the course of matches sometimes. Statistically, not all goals are scored from this type of passage of play. It’s something temporary and possible to correct. This week we are more annoyed than ever, and we don’t want to commit the same mistakes again.”

Talking about the trip to play FC Barcelona B, the defender said that, “they are teams which are capable of both the best and the worst. I hope that we can catch them at a good time. They are the type of team that plays good football, and we are going to a difficult ground, but we are a professional team and we will give everything to win the match.”

Regarding the opening minutes of Monday’s clash against Real Zaragoza, Carlos highlighted that, “we have turned up and played to win in every match. The important things are points and goals, but we are feeling good, and we must now pick up the results to add to that. We must make as few mistakes as possible and be clinical going forward,” he concluded.
