Real Oviedo Head Coach, Juan Antonio Anquela, appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón prior to the clash with CD Tenerife.

As has become the norm, the Coach began by offering an update on the state of injuries in the squad, stating that, “we will have some back for tomorrow’s match. Christian is out now, and so we’ll need them in the matchday squad.”

With respect to tomorrow’s encounter with CD Tenerife, the Coach said that, “the match won’t be at all easy. The team with the best squad in the division is coming. They have a lot of very good footballers, they know nwhat they are aiming for, and they are playing very well. We will see that what we are capable of, and we hope to be at the necessary level.”

Asked about the team’s performances in recent weeks, the Carbayón Coach declared that, “I don’t like to make excuses. We could have done more than we have done up until now, and that’s what we’re thinking. We must now take it day-by-day, staying calm, and believing in what we are doing. I want a team that will compete for the full 90 minutes; playing good football and going for the win. The Segunda División has no secret. You
have to play well, be intense right from training, and enjoy some good fortune.” Furthermore, talking about what the team needs in order to pick up more points from the coming matches, Anquela said that, “the only secret to this is that you must play the full 90 minutes. Any errors we commit are significant, and we must cut them out. Overall, this team is not far off being a good football team. We must be calm, be aware of what we are doing, and never change our way of thinking.”

Regarding the possibility of Miguel Linares starting up front in tomorrow’s match, Anquela assured that, “I always have Linares in my thoughts. He’s missed some chances, but you can never fault his work and sacrifice. We know what he can bring to us and we must know when to use him as an option. With respect to his work and intensity I can’t knock him.”

Finally, talking about the intensity he demands from his team each week, Juan Antonio Anquela believes that, “the team is intense, but we need to show it for 90 minutes. On days when you drop off a little you can’t win. I’m not worried about a lack of intensity because this team has it, although we have been lacking in some phases of matches,” concluded the Head Coach.
