Real Oviedo defender Carlos Hernández today appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón.

Following the start of a new week of training, the centre back commented that “preseason is about training a lot and getting work under your belt. We have to settle into work well.”

Asked about the new signings and their adaptation to the squad, the Andalusian said that, “we have to help them out, and they’re adapting well. We have to help them so that they become part of the team. Every player likes help to enable them to integrate quickly, and that’s what we are doing. It’s important to build a solid group, because all the best teams have them. We have to consolidate ourselves and work towards a good season.”

Regarding the formation, Carlos commented that “we are working on it, and it will become clear as the days go by. We have to work to become solid. It’s important in this division.”

With respect to the division, the defender highlighted that “I think that it’s more difficult and more competitive every year. If we have a good  group and work hard then we can do good things. Every season is different. We need to be in good shape physically and have the confidence to go for points right from the start. It’s a long season and it means absolutely nothing if you start the year well but finish badly.”

Finally, asked about the key factors heading into the new season, Carlos concluded by reasoning that, “having a great season is all about being solid and having a good squad, as we do have, and then doing things well right from the start.”
