Real Oviedo midfielder Borja Sánchez today appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón.

Having withdrawn from this morning’s training session, the Asturian explained that, “it’s a muscular problem and we decided I should stop as a precaution. I hope to be back in two or three days.”

Asked about his move into the first-team squad, Borja believes that “you can see the hard work being reflected, and now I have to make the most of it and prove myself. I’ve been chasing it for a while. Now I’ve got to keep working, earn a spot for myself and hope everything goes well.”

Regarding the Coach, the youth-team product highlighted that “I knew him from last season. He gives us clear, realistic messages. We are very happy. He’s a great coach, he has experience, and we have to listen to him to improve.”

Speaking about people’s excitement at seeing young players progressing from the academy to the first team, he said “it’s what they’ve always wanted, but playing well in the B team is not the same as doing it in the first team. I think we are ready, but we have to show it.”

Finally, with respect to his versatility, Borja concluded by pointing out that “I’ve played in centre midfield, attacking midfield and on the wing. The more positions you can play, the more useful you are for the Coach.”
