Real Oviedo left Navia with an undeserved defeat after suffering the misfortune of scoring an own goal in the final stages, but having created enough chances to have deserved the win. Egea's side completely dominated the first half of the match, and Lolo was first to go close in the fifth minute, with his effort from Saúl's free kick grazing the post. Samu Obeng had the next clear chance shortly afterwards, but the keeper tipped his effort from inside the box around the post. Ponferradina grew into the game as the minutes went by, but without threatening.

Real Oviedo had their best chances at the start of the second half, after making three changes to freshen up on the wings and in attack. First, Ibra was denied by Gazzaniga, before some long-range efforts narrowly evaded the target. The trophy winner looked set to be decided on penalties, but in the final stages an attempted clearance from a Ponferradina free kick ended up in the back of Alfonso's net.

There were good sensations and chances here for a Real Oviedo side playing their third match of preseason. They left Navia having felt the affection of hundreds of Oviedistas in attendance.
