The Real Oviedo captain appeared in the Press Room this morning, ahead of the penultimate session of the second week of preseason training.
Asked about the signings who have arrived at the club so far this summer, Arribas said that "only a few have come in and the team needs a lot more, but so far so good. I'm sure that they are going to give us a lot." Meanwhile, discussing the number of options at centre back, he stated that "any of the four of us can play. I'm sure that there will be competition in every position and that it will grow."
Regarding the fact that some of the new players have been at the club previously, and talking about whether he'd like it to be a feature of other signings that may come in, Arribas believes that "they know the club, and even know the working method if they've been with the Coach previously. They also know some teammates, and this all helps them to adapt more quickly."
With respect to whether or not the return of fans could have an impact on results and teams' final league positions, the captain said that "just as we didn't know what would happen when fans started to not be able to attend, we also don't know how teams will react when fans come back. What I am sure about is the fact that football will benefit, be it the fans, the players, or the clubs. There are a lot of things which have an impact on where clubs finish in the table, and it's decided on small details. It's a lot easier with your fans in the ground, supporting you in the difficult moments."
Finally, regarding the aspects to improve on from previous seasons, Arribas argued that "last season we were coming off the back of where we had been the year before. We didn't have the same difficulties that we had had the year before, but the team still has to improve in all areas. We are working on it all right from the first moment, with the aim of making this season better than the last one."
