Real Oviedo Head Coach, Juan Antonio Anquela, appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón, following the team’s final training session of the week on Asturian soil.

The Coach began by evaluating what the team needs to get the three points from the second matchday, saying, “we have to play well. This mean that we need to be organised and intense. We need to dominate play and make the most of the chances we have. I felt calm about the football we played the other day, but I wasn’t happy with the result. We’ve been talking about it, and I want to find explanations.

Talking about last weekend’s game against Extremadura, Juan Antonio Anquela argued that, “everyone sees football in their own way. I would be worried if we hadn’t created chances. We were good. I liked how the team played, but we didn’t win. Football is about winning, and we didn’t do it. We carried out the plan we’d prepared the other day, but we didn’t get the three points. We have to keep going like this. If we win then great, and if not then we will have problems.”

With respect to the next opponent, Córdoba, the Coach pointed out that, “they are a very good team. They get a lot of players forward and know what they want. Córdoba have been smartly put together, they have a coach who knows his players, and they will continue to be a very good team. We’ll have to play well to get any points.” In addition, regarding the high temperatures expected during the clash at the Nuevo Arcángel, the Coach stated that, “the heat is a factor which affects both teams. It’s an excuse, and I don’t like it. We have to go there and to Soria when it’s snowing. That’s how it is, and it’s not an excuse. I don’t want excuses. We will play wherever we have to play.”

Regarding the options at his disposal in attack, and Toché’s fine performance against Extremadura on Sunday, Anquela said that, “Toché came into the season with an advantage, since he was the first striker to arrive. We can’t get obsessed. We have options up front and all of them will get their chance.”

Finally, asked about Ramon Folch’s absence ahead of this encounter, the Coach assured that, “Ramon is close, but we need to be cautious. It was a knock, and we thought he’d be back quickly. We need to stay calm and look for alternatives to cover his absence as best as possible.” In addition, talking about Aarón’s return to training, the Coach commented that, “he’s a footballer with a lot of personality. He’s great and I have a lot of faith in him. We have a lot of options available. We are prepared for everyone to do well.”
