The Estadio de Lasearre played host to Real Oviedo Vetusta’s first game of the regular league season this afternoon. The B team fell to a 2-1 defeat, despite dominating the second half and creating several good chances.
Javi Rozada’s men, who improved as the match progressed, emerged with the clear intention of earning the three points and starting the season with a victory. Despite conceding within the first few minutes, Los Azules were able to contain the majority of the home team’s attacks but were unable to convert their own. Real Oviedo’s B side had three clear chances in the first half, falling to Ugarte, Steven and Borja.
The Asturians pushed on after the break and took control of the encounter, in terms of both chances and possession. The width and mobility up front for Real Oviedo allowed Steven to put in the cross for Casi to convert. Having now equalised, Javi Rozada’s men went in search of a second, but Barakaldo managed to score a winner in the final minutes.
This result means that Real Oviedo Vetusta will continue their search for their first triumph of the season in the next match, against UP Langreo.
