Real Oviedo Head Coach, Juan Antonio Anquela, today appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón.

As is the norm ahead of league matches, Anquela began by giving an injury update, stating that “Tejera is fine. We’ve been cautious with him, but I  think he’ll be back for the weekend.”

With respect to the week since the Lugo match, the Coach admitted that “victories bring calmness, but you all know my way of thinking by now. We have to win the next one. We played well the other day and now we need to be capable of giving a little more.”

Regarding the next opponent, Elche, the ‘Azul’ coach highlighted that “they have a good group and know what they’re playing for. Elche are very strong and a great second division side.” In addition, asked for his evaluation of the opening matches, Anquela believes that, “you’re analysing a six-match season. We have to trust what we’re doing and be capable of earning points at home.”

Asked whether the Lugo match saw the best performance of the season so far from the team, the ‘Carbayón’ coach said that, “I’ve seen several good Real Oviedo displays. We were good in Lugo, but we conceded chances. We have to keep improving and growing in order to be able to achieve things.”

Talking about the team, Juan Antonio Anquela declared that, “I’m very happy with the squad and we need to be united. Everyone will be involved during this season. Everyone has their own idea of what the lineup should be, but a football team is about more than that.”

Finally, with respect to what Real Oviedo should expect this Sunday, the Coach commented that, “I want to see my team compete and perform as well as the Carlos Tartiere crowd. That’s my only problem. We have our fans in front of us, but if they turn against us it will be difficult. I live for Real Oviedo and I just ask for respect,” he concluded.
