The Stadium Gal provided the setting for Real Oviedo Vetusta’s fifth league game of the regular season. The ‘Carbayón’ B team earned a draw against Real Unión de Irún, and extended their unbeaten run to four matches.

Javi Rozada made two changes to the side which started against Calahorra, and the team emerged for the match absolutely convinced of the need for intensity during the early stages of the encounter. This intensity would lead to the first goal for Borja, who finished off Jorge Mier’s attack just 50 seconds into the game. Real Oviedo Vetusta dominated the play and the best chances, but were unable to make the most of them. Real Unión equalised in the seventeenth minute, before taking the lead ten minutes later. Despite falling behind, Vetusta didn’t let their heads drop and continued to look for the draw. The score was 1-2 at halftime, however. ‘Los Azules’ increased their dominance after the break. Javi Rozada’s side tried to create danger in the middle of the pitch and make the most of their pace in attack. In one such attack, Steven managed to lose his marker and fire against the post, with Borja tucking home his second goal from the rebound. With the scores now level, Real Oviedo Vetusta kept chasing goals but a fine performance from the home goalkeeper, coupled with a lack of clinical finishing from Rozada’s lads meant that they were unable to score a third.

Real Oviedo Vetusta picked up another point and their fourth game unbeaten, improving the atmosphere even more for the remainder of the season. The B team will face Athletic B at El Requexón during the next matchday.
