A match which began with Egea making changes to the formation and line-up at the Fernando Torres stadium ended with Real Oviedo suffering a Tejera red card and falling to defeat barely three minutes before the 90th minute.

The Coach brought Arribas into the centre of the defence and opted for a two-man central midfield pairing of Jimmy and Tejera. Omar came in on the right wing, with Sangalli playing off of Ortuño. With a backdrop of intense heat and hundreds of Oviedistas in the stands, Fuenlabrada began strongly, showing their control of the ball. The first chance for the Asturians fell to Tejera, who cut back inside the area but saw his shot kept out by the keeper. Ortuño headed into the side-netting under heavy pressure just before the Madrid side took the lead on the half-hour mark. Fuenlabrada opening the scoring was followed by a drinks break and VAR coming into play. An Ortuño header flew into the back of the net but was initially ruled out for offside. However, the video referee awarded the goal and the teams went in for halftime with the scores level.

Alfonso produced a fine save to keep out a header from a free kick at the start of the second half. Bárcenas freshened up the attack on the right wing, but the team couldn’t create chances in attack. The Panamanian had the best opportunity from a one-on-one with the home keeper, but it only led to a corner. Tejera then saw a straight red and securing the draw became the priority for the final minutes. Fuenlabrada made the most of their chance to seal a 2-1 just before the 90th minute.

The team returned to Oviedo empty-handed. On Monday they will begin to prepare for the trip to CD Mirandés.
