The Mini Estadi at the José Manuel Llaneza training ground today provided the backdrop for Matchday 14 in LaLiga SmartBank, with Real Oviedo losing 2-1 against Villarreal B.

Álvaro Cervera went into the match against Villarreal's B team with a starting eleven made up of Tomeu Nadal; Lucas, Rodri Tarín, Dani Calvo, Alosno Aceves; Abel Bretones, Luismi, Montoro, Hugo Rama, Samu Obeng and Borja Bastón. The side from the capital of Asturias entered the first half the stronger, pressing high up the pitch and enjoying the best chances. Álvaro Cervera's team were very well-organised in defence and had the match under control, preventing Villarreal B from creating clear opportunities. Los Azules made the most of their widemen to create danger for Samu Obeng and Borja Bastón, but the two teams went in for halftime with the score still 0-0.

After the interval, Real Oviedo would strike first. Samu Obeng met a corner at the front post and fired home to give the Asturians the lead. Álvaro Cervera's team did not settle at 1-0, and Samu Obeng and Borja Bastón both had good opportunities to double the advantage. However, it would be the B team who would be next to find the back of the net, making the score 1-1. The match opened up following the equaliser. Both teams wanted more, and both would have opportunities to take the lead. Sergi Enrich came on in the first substitution, before Mangel also entered the fray. Los Carbayones had several chances to take home the win, but it would be Villarreal B who struck once more from a set piece to claim a 2-1 win.

There is no time for rest in the fixture list, and at 10:30 on Friday the team from the capital of Asturias will begin work towards Sunday's fixture against Granada CF.
