After the important 1-0 victory against Sevilla FC, Guillermo Almada reflected on the win, emphasizing the need to get back to earning points after the previous setback.

The coach acknowledged that the defeat against Levante had been a tough blow, so the team approached the match with the obligation to win in order to regain confidence and bring joy to the fans. “The team played a good match, although we can still improve in fluidity. We were solid in defense and created clear chances to have sealed the game earlier. We always looked for the second goal because it’s the best way to defend,” he explained.

Regarding the fight for survival, Almada was resolute: “We are going to fight until the last match. We need total commitment. Anyone who doesn’t feel ready must say so. Today the team showed character, knew how to suffer when necessary, and that strengthens us. Now we have to focus on the next match against Celta.”

The coach also addressed Viñas’ substitution, which was motivated by his booking: “He had a yellow card, and there was a risk of being left with one less player. We even considered substituting him at halftime. He seemed constrained when pressing, and we preferred not to take any risks.”

Regarding defensive performance, he highlighted the good level of his center-backs: “Carmo is dealing with some discomfort, but he can contribute. The defensive line worked well. Additionally, Costas has had a tough few days in the hospital due to the birth of his child. It’s a position we have well covered.”

On the refereeing, he avoided controversy: “I don’t like matches with so many interruptions, but I didn’t see if there were any mistakes.” Finally, he sent a message to those who have written off the team: “Let them think what they want. We are going to fight until the last drop of sweat. Today’s attitude brings us closer to our goal. We knew we could close the gap with Sevilla, and we must continue taking it one match at a time.”
