The Real Oviedo coach, Guillermo Almada, appeared before the media after the defeat against Real Betis in a match where, in his opinion, the result was determined by a lack of precision and their own mistakes. "We didn't play a bad game. The result was due to Betis' decisiveness and the mistakes we made, especially in ball distribution. We knew that if we made those mistakes, we would suffer, and that's what happened," explained the Carbayón coach.
The blue coach also highlighted some positive aspects of his team's play, although he acknowledged there were moments when intensity was lacking. "We recovered a lot of balls and had possession for a long time, but at some points, we did lack intensity. I hadn't realized we only committed four fouls. The goals came from very similar plays; we made mistakes in all three," he noted, also lamenting the lack of pressure on the opposing goalkeeper during the match.
One of the most notable points of his press conference was the controversial incident involving Thiago in the penalty area, which Oviedo claimed should have been a penalty. "It's a crucial play. The emotional impact was significant, and for me, it was a clear penalty," Almada stated, expressing his disagreement with the referee's decision.
Despite the defeat, the coach wanted to send a message of commitment: "We have to keep fighting. We always try to fight and win. We will have to keep going, even if there is only a slim chance. And if there isn't, we will need to have sporting pride and keep competing."
