The Press Room at El Requexón provided the backdrop as Alfonso was presented with the award for the ‘Jugador Cinco Estrellas’ Player of the Month for April. He has had a very fundamental role for months, maintaining a consistency which has helped the team to advance in many matches. The goalkeeper was chosen by the Real Oviedo fans, who had to pick between the five players nominated by the beer company on their Twitter profile, @futbolmahou.

After receiving the award, Alfonso Herrero was "grateful to the people," recognizing that "each day, they are kind to me, in the street and on social media." However, the goalkeeper understands that "it is an award given for the work, the work of a team that gives everything it has."

Alfonso has been the principal goalkeeper during the second part of the season. When asked about his position in Real Oviedo's goal, the Toledo-born player believes that "when I came, I knew that I would have to  work to be able to move up. I worked hard to achieve it, and now I am enjoying it, although now is the time to focus on the group, in continuing to move up."

Regarding last Sunday's victory over Lorca, the goalie affirms that "we welcome the chance of participating in a very difficult match like the one with Osasuna. We have worked hard to be victorious, and we will continue to work for it. Victory and a solid defence are two good things for what is coming."

Indeed, regarding their next rival, Osasuna, Alfonso emphasized that "they are a good team. We know what we are up against. It is an important match. It is a difficult match. We are prepared for it, and we are going for the win. We are in a crucial situation, and we are going to make it a good match."

Speaking of the four matches Real Oviedo have left to play, the player from Toledo understands that "every week is going to be treated like a final. Now we are in a vital moment and we must finish well. There are other points ahead, but what comes now is what is important. We are going in to the match with the mentality that we will win, but with the comfort of knowing there are points left."

Finally, regarding Osasuna's statistics at home, Real Oviedo's goalkeeper believes that "statistics are statistics, but matches need to be played, and they can change everything. We know our opponent's virtues, how to play against them, and we are working on that. In a such a special and evenly-matched game like the one this weekend, everything can change. That is what we are going for," concluded the Toledo-born player.
