Real Oviedo goalkeeper, Alfonso Herrero, appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón following the first team’s training session.

Alfonso began by evaluating last weekend’s clash in Cádiz, arguing that, “it was a very even match that we controlled for large periods. It was a fair draw which shows the team’s hard work. We were good and did what then Coach asks of us. We need to keep going like this going into this weekend’s match, as they will be a tough nut to crack.”

Regarding the change in formation and how it affects the keeper’s way of playing, Alfonso Herrero commented that, “last year I touched the ball less, whereas this year I’m using my feet more. I feel I’m good with my feet and help the centre backs out.”

With respect to the importance of keeping clean sheets, the shot stopper highlighted that, “it’s difficult to be good at everything. We are very good in attack, and in defence we are too, but we need to alter a few aspects. I think that if we can become solid defensively then we will get good results.”

Asked what it means to return home this weekend, the keeper believes that, “it’s important to get back to the Tartiere. We need to make our home a fortress. It’s important to perform well in front of our fans and make sure that away teams know that coming to the Tartiere means that they are going to have a difficult time. We need to keep playing like this, because it is what will get us good results.”

Ahead of the match against Real Zaragoza, Alfonso stated that, “all the teams are at a great level this year. They have a lot of quality in attack, but we know how to combat them; by being strong. We have to get the three points at home.”

Finally, regarding the atmosphere being created around Real Oviedo, the goalkeeper commented that, “we are very happy with the way we are working as a team. We have a lot of quality this year and we want the ball. The team is comfortable and secure,” he concluded.
