Real Oviedo goalkeeper, Alfonso Herrero appeared in the Press Room this morning following the team’s training session at El Requexón.

The stopper explained that, “the match at the weekend was different to what we have been used to, and the team is aware of the importance of Sunday’s game at La Romareda. We’ve been working well all year, but we know that the good part of the season is now approaching and there are a lot of teams pushing. We have to try to finish as high as possible.”

In addition, with respect to the way the team is working and the confidence the squad has in it, Alfonso highlighted that, “at the end of the day we came out of the match even more united, just as we did from Cádiz. We know that we need to work together to get to where we want to. The team worked to avoid defeat and we need to keep working as we have been, because we are  sure that that will bring us results.”

The next fixture sees Real Oviedo play away from the Carlos Tartiere again, and the goalkeeper commented that, “we are excited. We know what a good run Real Zaragoza are on, but, with all due respect to our opponent, we are going there to win. They are a historic club and it’s a nice ground, but we are going there for the victory. In football, runs are there to be broken, and we are going to try to put in good performances away from home. We need to work hard this week and arrive there with our best chance of winning.”

Following the Albacete game, the team intends to “revive the good feeling we had previously, because we felt different after that one. We are working for that reason, and in order to perform at our best. We need to press high up the pitch, fight for every ball, and win the second balls. We are staying calm, because we are working hard to achieve it.”

Regarding Saturday’s draw, which left the team feeling unsatisfied but one point closer to automatic promotion, Alfonso reiterated that, “every point is important. We always want to win every match because we are at a club which demands that. We will be able to analyse things and determine whether they are positive or negative when the season draws to an end,” he concluded.
