This afternoon, an agreement between Real Oviedo and FUNDOMA was signed by the club’s president Jorge Menéndez Vallina, and the general director of Mining and Energy of the Principality of Asturias and president of the Board of Directors of the Asturian Miners Education Trust (FUNDOMA) Belarmina Díaz Aguado. The aforementioned agreement will allow our club to use their sports facilities and Clavería university housing, both of which are properties of FUNDOMA.

With the signing of this document, the lease of the sports facilities (sports center and a 7-a-side football pitch with artificial turf) has been established so that they may be used for sports activities by the Escuela Real Oviedo teams, which was launched recently and will establish their headquarters in said facilities. Also, the contract permits the use of the residential facilities owned by FUNDOMA known as “Clavería” which have 45 dorms and will be exclusively for the housing of the club’s youth academy players.

The agreement, looking to the future, with long term aspirations, has an initial duration of one year with the aim of starting a partnership between both entities and with the hope of future agreements between both institutions.

The general director of Mining and Energy of the Principality of Asturias as well as the president of Real Oviedo have emphasized the importance of the agreement, which will allow the institution’s facilities to be used for new purposes, and also to lodge young football players. The place meets the necessary conditions for the club to grow and for the development of activities for social purposes as well as training. Soon, the activities will expand and will be conducted in some facilities that present enormous possibilities for Real Oviedo.

FUNDOMA is the former miner orphanage, founded in 1929 with the aim of lodging and educating the orphans of the miners, serving their physical, emotional, and intellectual needs, and helping their social integration. Today, it is diversifying its activity, and consequently it is taking advantage of its facilities that are located at the bottom of Monte Naranco in Oviedo, to start a project of change consistent with the social and educative nature of the entity.
