Las Gaunas today hosted the clash between Real Oviedo Vetusta and UD Logroñés, which saw ‘Los Azules’ get back to winning ways with a 4-3 away win.

Javi Rozada’s side, who made three changes to their starting eleven from the last weekend’s match in Llodio, emerged for the match with the clear intention of going toe-to-toe with one of the candidates in the playoff battle. The first half saw Vetusta fall behind to two set-play goals. First, the hosts opened the scoring as the ball broke from a corner, before they doubled their lead from the penalty spot. The B team stayed true to their playing style and looked to combine and find gaps in the opposition’s defence. ‘Los Carbayones’ managed to cut the deficit with a well-worked set play, which ended with Ernesto firing home. The teams went in for halftime with the score 2-1. Javi Rozada brought on Sandoval for the start of the second half and the B team emerged more strongly than Logroñés, as they introduced more fluidity and directness to their game. Sandoval equalised with a strong shot from inside the area, before, minutes later, turning provider for Ernesto to give Vetusta the lead. Logroñés brought the scores level once more, before Ernesto completed his hattrick to put Real Oviedo Vetusta back in front. The match ended in a 4-3 away win.

This victory moves Real Oviedo Vetusta onto 46 points. The next fixture will see them face Real Sociedad B at home.
