Real Oviedo Vetusta and Salamanca CF UDS went head-to-head this afternoon in the second phase of the Segunda B season, with the points eventually being shared.
The B team lined up with the same starting eleven as last weekend in Guijuelo: B. Hórreo; Jorge Mier, Ando, Armenteros, Fran Pacoli; Rober, Guille Bernabéu, Meléndez; Sandoval, Eloy Ordóñez and Javi Cueto. Real Oviedo Vetusta went into the game looking for three more points in the battle to stay in the 2ª RFEF, against an in-form Salamanca CF UDS side which did not want to lose touch with the Asturians in the table.
The first half, which was affected by injury to Guille Bernabéu, saw Salamanca try to keep the ball away from the team from the capital of Asturias. The visitors dominated certain phases of the game, but Los Azules were very professional in defence and did not let the match slip away from them. They also threatened on occasion, with Sandoval and Javi Cueto having the two best chances of the first half.
The second half was split into two clear parts. The first part saw the two teams attempting to avoid committing errors and the risk of conceding a goal, while the final twenty minutes were end-to-end. The match ended with the B team pinning Salamanca back and searching for the winner. Steven, Erik Aguado, Alex Cardero and Alberto Fuentes all also got game time.
It wasn't to be on this occasion, but the B team did manage to pick up an important point, with results elsewhere leaving them in the same position in the table as they were in prior to this weekend. Real Oviedo Vetusta will travel to Galicia next week to face Coruxo.
