The midfielder, who has earnt a place in the Real Oviedo first team through hard work and commitment, won the recognition from fans of Los Azules. Javi was selected as the winner of the vote held by the beer company, who nominated five players on their Twitter profile @futbolmahou.
Javi Mier then answered a selection of the questions sent in via social networks by fans of Los Azules:
What has this season meant to you?
This season has seen me step up to professional football. It's been a big step for me, but I've not done anything yet and I have to keep improving. I need to learn and adapt.
What has been your best moment as a footballer? And the worst?
My worst memory was a bad injury I got when I was in the Juvenil side. My best moment was a few months ago, when I scored against Mallorca.
Would you like to grow as a footballer at Real Oviedo?
I'd like to grow here and spend a lot of years at the club I love.
What advice would you give to (twin brother) Jorge, in order for him to continue improving?
It's not about giving advice. He knows that he will improve in training each day. He has to believe in himself and in his work. You never know what might happen in football.
Who gives you support, aside from your family and partner?
My school friends have always been there and give me great support.
Which player did you admire growing up? What is your dream as a football player?
There were a lot, but I always looked up to Xavi Hernández and his way of playing. My dream is to get promoted with Real Oviedo and play in the First Division.
A message to the fans ahead of Saturday.
I'd tell them that we are going to give it everything. We are going to make them proud of our performance at El Molinón. We are going there to win, no other result is good enough. We are going to make a huge effort.
Stay tuned to @futbolmahou and @realoviedo to take part in the selection of April's Jugador Cinco Estrellas. These two profiles will announce the voting period and the next winner of the award.
