The new matchday in Grupo I of the Segunda División B saw Real Oviedo Vetusta welcome UD Ibiza to El Requexón. Los Azules gained a point against one of the strongest opponents in the division.
Having made two changes to the eleven which triumphed last weekend at El Molinón, Emilio Cañedo's team set out with the clear intention of fighting for the three points which would enable to build a good run of form. The first half was a high-intensity and hard-fought affair. Los Azules had several chances to take the lead, but it was Ibiza that struck first, opening the scoring on the brink of halftime. Real Oviedo Vetusta went into the second half with the aim of controlling the ball and forcing their opponent to use the counter, but went down to ten men after Javi Mier received a second yellow card. Despite this setback, Los Carbayones did
not let their heads drop and took a step forward, eventually finding the equaliser. A corner kick saw Andoni Ugarte hit the crossbar, before Rober Sierra made the most of the rebound to make the score 1-1.
The point earned by Real Oviedo Vetusta today leaves them eighth in the table. The next match will see them travel to face the league leaders, Atlético Baleares.
