The HUCA hospital in Oviedo is currently at the epicentre of the battle against COVID-19, with the health staff there doing fantastic work.  It is also the setting for a countless number of emotional and moving stories.
One such story is that of Sonia, a lifelong Oviedista.  She tells us how this period has been for her and sends a message of support to all of her fellow Oviedistas.
Good morning, my name is Sonia.  I am a nurse at the HUCA, and have been aseason-ticket holder and lover of Real Oviedo ever since I was born.  The truth is that there is no single moment that I can tell you about, but rather the gestures of affection, respect, and small things which people have sent us for our work...no sole incident, but rather a more general one.  Firstly, the police that stopped me to ask me where I was going, before responding to my answer by wishing me a good shift, thanking me, and escorting me there... The relatives of patients that call the reception to find out about their loved ones, because visits are prohibited, and all give many thanks to us for our work... We are being sent food, sweets, alcohol-free drinks...all different products to make the shifts more bearable... Basically, the majority of people are overflowing with shows of affection, it's very touching.  And if the topic comes up and any Real Oviedo-supporting patient finds out about my loyalties...time flies talking
about our beloved team.  That really cheers them up and encourages them. I'd like to send a huge virtual kiss to the whole Oviedista family. Volveremos.
I attach a photo of better times, without a protective mask.
