Real Oviedo Head Coach Cuco Ziganda appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón ahead of the Almería fixture.
Following three days of work, the Coach admitted that "following the opening match, the team is still not physically ready to recover from such a huge effort in such a short amount of time. The players are tired, but thinking about the next match." In addition, discussing whether players such as Matheus, Montiel and Borja Bastón would be ready in time, the Gaffer stated that "they will be available. Each of them is at a different stage, but we will see how it goes according to the state of the match."
Asked about the possibility of Sangalli coming into the starting eleven, Ziganda reasoned that "it's one of the options, but the team performed well the other day. We are going to think it all over and decide whether to make changes."
Regarding Almería, the Coach highlighted "it's a team with a lot of quality, quick players, and ability. They won easily the other day and gave an air of superiority. They have the best striker in the division, they are organised, and they play with tempo. It's a strong team and will be a great test for us. We will see what we are capable of in terms of overcoming their power."
With respect to last weekend's game against Lugo, Ziganda said that "we have watched it and thought about it. We are happy with how the match went, but disappointed with the result. There are things we can cling on to. I am happy for the lads, and pleased with the way they worked and with the connection with the fans in their first game back. There are a lot of positives as we start this marathon."
Asked about Luismi's return and the possibility of him partnering Jimmy in the coming LaLiga matches, the Coach believes that "they are compatible. They are different types of players. We have to adapt and get the best out of both of them. I think that Jimmy has the ability to play a little further forward. He understands the game and is feeling confident. The main thing is having good players, because the LaLiga season is a very long one."
Finally, asked about the club's need to bring in a new midfielder, Ziganda reasoned that "it would be good in order to complete the squad. The holding midfielders who played most often last season have departed. Luismi is coming in now alongside Javi Mier and Jimmy, but we need competition and for it to be difficult for players to get in the team. If someone is going to come in, they need to be good and add to the team."
