Real Oviedo Head Coach Cuco Ziganda today appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón.
Going into a week with so many matches, how is the team doing?
- We all want to win, and morale isn't the same when you don't win as when you do get the three points. We are aware of the importance of all of the matches and of effort, and aware that we are not getting the number of points that we want. We have foundations from last year and captains who are clear that it's all about hard work. It's a long season and we have to improve. We are very serious and focused on what we have coming up.
Will there be changes tomorrow? And if so, will they be due to rotation or due to the needs of the team?
- Let's see. I'm sure there will be some. There will be changes between Thursday's and Sunday's teams, but we will see.
Analysing the match, what was the Oviedo attack missing in Girona?
- We are lacking the most difficult thing, the finishing touch. We were up against a compact team and it was a hard match. We are lacking what is going to bring us goals; that belief that we are going to score. We have to insist, look for solutions and create situations, so that little by little we find that belief that the team needs. I am convinced that the goals will arrive.
Are you considering going back to playing with two strikers?
- I am considering all the possibilities, let's see. We can use several formations, but it's clear that we have a squad which gives us different alternatives. We have to be tenacious, insistent, and look for a winning spine.
How are you feeling about players like Jimmy, Riki, Cedric and Mujica? Will this run of so many matches in so little time be key in determining their short-term futures in the team?*
- Squads are big and there's no room for everything. We are trying to build a spine. They haven't been playing, but they are working hard and strongly, with good attitudes. We will look at it. Some of them will come in and have that moment they've been waiting for. I am happy with their attitudes, their respect, and their levels.
Have you thought about playing a three-man midfield of Aburjania, Tejera and Edgar, or is the two-man central midfield fixed now at Oviedo? What have you made of the Georgian?
- It's another possibility. We will look at the type of match it is, but we are going to be tenacious and look for a structure which gives us a winning feel. We have been good in the matches, but we haven't got the victories. We are going to look at it and analyse what we need. Aburjania is competing and not getting the gametime we would like. We believe in him. He will come in and show the qualities that he has.
What would you highlight about Rayo?
- They have a lot of quality. They are in the group of the teams that, based on their budget and quality, are ready for promotion. It doesn't matter who plays, they can still hurt you. It's another match and we are going to compete. We are an awkward opponent.
