Real Oviedo Head Coach Cuco Ziganda appeared in the Press Room at El Requexón today, ahead of the weekend's trip to face CD Lugo.
Going into Saturday's fixture at Anxo Carro and discussing the feeling around the team going into the match, the Gaffer stated that "we are going to Lugo with incredibly high morale. We know that it is a close match geographically. The fans are going to go there in high spirits and we are going to have their backing. It's a standout away day. We know the importance of the match and a win would mean a lot to us. Let's see if we can get two consecutive victories. We need to put in a good performance and come out of the match happy."
Going into the encounter with the Galician side, Ziganda will not have Luismi available, as he will be suspended following his fifth yellow card of the season. Regarding the absence of the Andalusian midfielder, the Coach admitted that "we adapt to one formation or another according to what we have available. With Luismi available we would be able to make changes throughout the match, so it's a big loss. Someone else will play in his place, we have players in good form." In addition, discussing the competition for places within the squad, he commented that "there are people that are training well every week. I can see that they are doing well and they are giving me reasonable, positive doubts. We think that whatever decision we make is going to be a good one for the team. There is good competition and it's beneficial for the squad."
Asked about CD Lugo, the Coach highlighted that "it's a team that has been growing and is confident. Lugo are a very well-worked team and that's why they've been on the run of results that they have. Lugo are a well-equipped team and difficult to break down."
Finally, with respect to the aspirations of the team from the capital of Asturias, Ziganda reasoned that "we are where we are. We would like to be doing better, yes. Every match brings great responsibility and we know what it means. We have to push to be up there and there is still time to do so, but we mustn't get obsessed. We are focusing on Saturday and on putting in a great performance. We will see what we are fighting for come April."
