Zubieta today played host to the latest fixture in Grupo II of the Segunda B, with Real Oviedo Vetusta facing Real Sociedad B.
The B team headed to Zubieta aware of the importance of getting three points so as not to lose sight of the top of the table, and to back up the work they’ve been doing on a weekly basis. The two teams alternated control of the match during the first half, with Javi Rozada’s side creating several chances. However, they were denied on each occasion by the home side, who managed to make the most of a cross into the box to open the scoring. Following Real Sociedad B’s goal, Vetusta kept trying, but without any luck. The score was 0-0 at halftime. ‘Los Carbayones’ emerged stronger and more switched on for the second half, as they tried to combine in midfield and make the most of their strikers’ efficiency. The crazy period of the match began in the 77th minute. First, the referee dismissed Lobato. He then awarded a penalty after Ernesto was felled in the box, which Lolo converted. One minute later, Borja scored the goal of the game. The home keeper was unable to stop his shot from the centre of the pitch. Finally, Lolo added his second in the 79th minute, as he fired home from within the box. Despite having a 3-1 lead and being down to ten men Real Oviedo Vetusta continued to look for more goals, but they did concede one more goal before the full time whistle.
Real Oviedo Vetusta picked up another victory to move up to fourth in the table, and they face Mirandés at El Requexón next up.
