A Confident Victory

Real Oviedo picked up a second consecutive victory at the Tartiere, with Mossa, Bárcenas and Joselu scoring the goals in a 3-0 win

There was no post-derby hangover for Real Oviedo, even with their injuries. They responded well, despite Forlín, Saúl Berjón and Tejera all being missing; the first two through injury and the latter through suspension.

The first half was difficult for Real Oviedo, as they dominated possession and the match, but couldn’t create too much danger. Of the few chances that were created, Edgar Badía denied Ibra’s efforts, while Alanís headed wide from a set piece when under heavy pressure. Reus didn’t trouble Champagne’s goal either. Linares, now at Reus but given a warm reception by his old team, spent the first forty-five minutes very isolated from his new teammates.

The second half was a different story however. Anquela altered the formation but not the players, and Mossa opened the scoring less than a minute after the restart. His first effort struck the post, but he tucked away the rebound. Real Oviedo didn’t have to wait long for their second, as they dominated possession and created the majority of the chances. Yoel Bárcenas scored a nice effort, curling home a free kick from the edge of the box. Joselu then added a third. Johannesson was brought down for a penalty, and although Joselu missed from the spot, he managed to convert from the rebound. Reus pushed on in the final stages of the match, but they couldn’t get any reward in terms of a goal. The Tartiere crowd ended the match chanting Linares’ name and giving him a standing ovation.

The team will resume training at 10:30 tomorrow, with a regenerative session at Las Caldas.
