Real Oviedo striker, Joselu, appeared before the Press following the regenerative session at Las Caldas Villa Termal.

Having asked to be replaced during yesterday’s clash against Reus, the forward commented that, “I’m fine; feeling much better. I feel good and we hope that it was just a knock. I don’t feel like it’s anything serious, just a bit painful. It was bad luck during that passage of play. I felt pain, but the shot went where I aimed it. I asked for the change so that a teammate could come on for me. It was for the best.” In addition, regarding whether hunger to score a second goal might have played a role, Joselu highlighted that, “I’ve been a professional for many years and I’ve never been injured. There’s a whole world in everyone’s head, but I don’t think it was because I was anxious to score.”

Regarding his performances so far this season, the forward highlighted that, “I’m not happy, because a striker needs goals. I’m finding it hard but I can’t complain. I’m always grateful to play, but it’s better when you score goals. I’d gone a few weeks without scoring and it was time.” Furthermore, speaking about the support he has received from the coaching staff and his teammates, the striker declared that, “I’m  rateful to the coaching staff and my teammates. The Coach is great and I’m grateful for his words and for his support.”

With respect to the Reus encounter, Joselu commented that, “we knew it would be a tricky match and we were aware of the importance of getting three points. We were good in the second half and got a good result. It gives us confidence going into the next match, which is against a promotion rival.”

Asked about the run of fixtures awaiting Real Oviedo in the next few weeks, as they play several top-of-the-table rivals, Joselu believes that, “we’ve got games against teams that are towards the top coming up, but I think that we can compete against anybody. We are going to Las Palmas looking to get three points and maintain our consistency.”

Finally, regarding the importance of claiming two consecutive wins, the attacker stated that, “we were in a bad way from a morale point of view after the Dépor game, but these two victories serve to help us grow. We are a good group and we have the team to have a good year. We all have to push in the same direction, with the fans behind us. We have to all push upwards,” he concluded.
