Real Oviedo Vetusta got back to winning ways today with a hard-fought, topsy-turvy victory. The team from the capital of Asturias managed to maintain their poise to claim the three points in the final stages of the encounter.
Jaime Álvarez opted for a starting eleven made up of Marco; Victor Matovu, René Pérez, Lucas Laso, Marc Alegre; Yayo, Mangel, Álex Cardero, Nnoshiri, Pedregal and Javi Cueto for today's match at the Marqués de la Vega de Anzo. The encounter was settled in the 78th minute when Javi Cueto ran onto a flicked header from Chus to make the score 2-3.
Los Azules dominated the first half from start to finish, but made two defensive mistakes which led to the two CD Mosconia strikes. Real Oviedo Vetusta responded well to the hosts' opener, with Marc Alegre netting the first equaliser. Mangel would add a second goal after Lucas Laso had hit the crossbar. Los Azules did not manage to protect the lead, however, and Mosconia made the score 2-2 from the very next passage of play. Jaime Álvarez's side had opportunities to add further goals, but were not clinical enough, and the two teams went in for halftime with the score 2-2.
The match developed into an end-to-end affair after the interval, with both teams open and creating chances. The B team kept trying, but did not initially manage to break through. Merayo came on in the first change, before he was joined by Eloy Ordóñez, and then Osky and Chus. Real Oviedo Vetusta's third goal arrived in the 78th minute. Marco hit a long goal kick, Chus flicked the ball on, and Javi Cueto provided a fine finish. The match ended with CD Mosconia searching for an equaliser, but up against a fine defensive performance from the B team, which saw Los Azules deal with all of their opponent's danger.
This was a crucial victory for the team from the capital of Asturias, which sees Vetusta move seven points clear of their nearest challenger. Jaime Álvarez's side will face Navarro CF at El Requexón next week.
