Real Oviedo Vetusta and Luarca CF went head-to-head at El Requexón this Sunday, with the B team picking up a victory which sees them stay top of the table.
Los Azules went into Matchday 25 in Grupo II of the Tercera RFEF Division with the clear intention of building on the good performance against CD Lealtad last time out. Jaime Álvarez opted for a starting eleven made up of Berto Hórreo; Marc Alegre, Lucas Laso, Mangel, Osky; René Pérez, Yayo, Álex Cardero; Chus, Iván and Javi Cueto.
The home side were in charge of the first half, emerging strongly for the match, dominating, and creating the more threatening chances. Javi Cueto opened the scoring when he capitalised on a rebound inside the area.
Luarca looked to put the B team under pressure after the interval, but Vetusta managed to deal with the threat well. Lucas Laso was the scorer of the second goal. Abel Bretones, Eloy Ordóñez, Isaac, Pablo Menéndez and Merayo featured as substitutes.
These were three important points for Los Azules, who will face San Martín next time out.
