The second phase of the season continued this afternoon at El Requexón, with Real Oviedo Vetusta welcoming CD Guijuelo. The match ended in a 2-0 victory for the hosts.
Emilio Cañedo opted for a starting eleven made up of Kane Sarr; Ámez, Ando, Armenteros, Sandoval; Meléndez, Rober, Guille Bernabéu; Alberto Fuentes, Eloy Ordóñez and Javi Cueto. Los Azules went into today's game in search of three points to move closer to the objective of survival in the division, and managed to secure the victory.
The first half began with an early goal from Eloy Ordóñez. The B team emerged the stronger side, and created further chances to extend the lead. Cueto and Sandoval were the standout players in attack for Los Carbayones. The midfield, meanwhile, looked to battle for the ball and move the ball forward to the attackers, just as they have been trying to do all season. The two sides went in for halftime with the score 1-0.
Guijuelo started the second half the better side, and began to threaten the Asturians. Kane Sarr was called into action to prevent the visitors from equalising. Los Azules looked to create gaps in the away defence, and made the most of the pace of the wide men. Pedro Inglés entered the field in the first change for the B team, before Cañedo brought on Alex Cardero and Gassan shortly afterwards. A fine pass to Sandoval then saw the winger double the lead to 2-0. Joselu and Erik Aguado came on in the final substitutions, while the match ended with Guijuelo pushing on in an attempt to cut the deficit.
Today's victory at El Requexón was an important one for the B team, as it allows them to move further away from the teams which sit just below them in the table. Next weekend will see Vetusta make the trip to face Salamanca CF UDS at the Helmántico.
