Real Oviedo defender Simone Grippo today appeared before the Press, as Los Azules got another week's training underway.
The centre back began by explaining that he was "satisfied at having picked up a point in Almería", as well as being pleased with the team's performance at the Juegos Mediterráneos. "We worked, we reacted, and it was important. We are happy about it."
Simone Grippo was a key man in the match against the Andalusian side, scoring a wonder goal to secure the draw. Regarding the goal itself, the Italian-Swiss defender described how "we were lucky to be able to repeat the free kick. Carlos (Hernández) won the aerial battle and it came towards me. I don't know if it's the most important goal of my career, but it is important because it meant we got something from the game." In addition, regarding VAR checking the strike, Grippo commented that "my teammates said it was fine, and I was hoping it wouldn't be disallowed. It was given and I am very happy."
Asked what it means for the team to have got a point from such a tough ground as the Juegos Mediterráneos, the defender reasoned that "the point is most important for our league position, but it also boosts morale. It's another point and now we have to think about Sabadell."
Finally, the defender is not making any calculations about how long it may take the team to secure survival. He issued a reminder that "we have Sabadell next and then four more matches. It's an important game because they are down there too. It's important, but we have another four afterwards. We are conscious of what we have at stake."
