Real Oviedo Vetusta went back to El Requexón today for the Matchday 5 Segunda RFEF fixture against CD Cayón. Having drawn against UP Langreo last time out, Jaime Álvarez's side went into the encounter with the clear aim of picking up their first win of the season, and he opted for a starting eleven made up of Marco, Lamine, Jaime Vázquez, Marco Esteban, Osky, Yayo, Diego Menéndez, Izan, Miguélez, Sesé and Xavi Sola.

The match began with the B team looking to take control of the game right from the outset and creating the majority of the chances. The Asturians dominated the first 45 minutes and Xavi Sola would have the best opportunity. The striker failed to apply the finishing touch following a fine team move, firing wide of the target. Vetusta would receive a further piece of good news in the 36th minute, when CD Cayón left back Gabi received a straight red card.

Vetusta had even more control during the second half, and Jaime Álvarez made several offensive changes to pin the away side back. The visitors held on to the 0-0 desperately, but Cheli finally delivered the deserved goal to provide the victory in the 91st minute. The 1-0 win was the first win of the 2023/2024 Segunda RFEF season for Real Oviedo Vetusta.
