Real Oviedo Vetusta faced Rayo Cantabria on Thursday in their first friendly of this preseason. After two weeks of training, Roberto Aguirre's team got a good look at a team they will face later this season in Group 1 of the Second Division.

With several new faces following recent signings, the coach started the following eleven: Miguel Narváez, Espi, Arturo, Martín, Marcos Lopes, Tejón, Curro, Berzal, Lamine, Pelayo and Joaquín.

From the start, Vetusta tried to take the initiative and establish a rhythm, similar to last season in Tercera. Lamine had the closest chance right at the start of the match, but he made the wrong decision at the last moment and the goalkeeper was able to claim his final ball. Rayo Cantabria's response was immediate, and the first goal of the match fell to the visitors. 0-1

Just before the 15th minute, Joaquín scored with a great header to equalise and bring the score back to level terms. The goal gave the B team a boost and they had two good chances to take the lead, but the goal did not come. In the first half, Cheli replaced Curro in midfield. Half-time.

Vetusta started the second half with a completely revamped line-up: Mate, Adri Fernández, Maza, Adri Lopes, Thierno, Valdera, Enzo, Dieguito, Agudín, Félix and Lucas Antañón. After the resumption, Vetusta were far superior to Racing's reserve team, and that translated into goals. Dieguito, Agudín, Valdera, Adri Fernández and Lucas Antañón all converted their scoring opportunities to make it 5-1 on the scoreboard. The B team put on a great performance and secured their first victory of preseason.
